Find out in the MOOC 'BREWINGx: Beer: the science of brewing' by the group of Prof. Kevin Verstrepen (VIB-KULeuven Center for Microbiology). The course starts on November 2nd.

Through this course, you will be able to discover why each beer has its own specific flavors and aroma – and you don’t even need to get out of your comfortable chair at home to do so!

The group of prof. Kevin Verstrepen (VIB-KU Leuven Center for Microbiology) has created a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on the science behind beer. In a series of lectures and online course material, you will learn how the key ingredients, different biochemical reactions, and process parameters influence the taste and aroma of beer. The course combines theory with small experiments to get hands-on experience with some of the concepts.

This course additionally gives you a sneak peek inside some of Belgium’s most iconic breweries. It features talks from different Belgian brewers and maltsters, as well as from some of the most renowned academics on key features of the malting and brewing process.

The first run of this course took place last spring and had over 6.000 different participants from 126 countries! The next run starts on November 2nd, 2020.
